![]() Yip Man was the first master (sifu) to teach the martial art of Wing Chun openly. Among all students of Yip Man, Kung Fu star Bruce Lee is of the greatest fame. Although 30 years has eclipsed since his death, his spirit remained and he is greatly honored by the later generations. ![]() Yip Man died of disease in December 1, 1972. His original name was Ye Jiwen, born in Foshan, Yip Man promoted Wing Chun throughout the world all by himself therefore, his disciples called him Grandmaster Yip Man in honor of his efforts. His students were from various walks, including members from the work union, members from union braches, workers from Kowloon, and foreign students studying in Hong Kong. Since his arrival in Hong Kong in 1950, he taught Wing Chun in the work union of Kowloon hotels and this cemented his fame as a great martial artist. Later he continued his training lessons from Leung Bik, son of his master's master Leung Jan. Stephen's College to study foreign languages. At the age of 16, Yip Man left Foshan and moved to Hong Kong. At the age of seven, Yip Man started the training with Chan Wah-shun, who was a well-known student of Wing Chun grandmaster Leung Jan (Liang Zan). To avoid the rebellion of "Red Heads", his father moved the whole family to Sangyuan of Foshan. His family used to live in Lianxing Tantou Village of Luocun County. Yip Man (1892- 1972) was born in the town of Sangyuan, Foshan. ![]() The image of Huang Fei-Hong as a national hero has successfully grasped people's heart, and the monument hall has become a Mecca to his disciples from all over the world. Especially, the famous movies have been over 100, which has created the World Genesis Records in 2001. A lot of movies, TV series, novels, Cantonese operas, comics and animations were based on him. Huang Fei-Hong was born in Foshan, he was a martial artist, healer, and revolutionary who became a Chinese folk hero. It is 5000 square meters and the building still maintains the style of the last century's Foshan residential ancestral hall. The Huang Fei-Hong Monument was built and opened to the public in January 2001. The lion art martial arts gymnasium was built in memory of him in 1996 ,in which there are numerous halls exhibiting his former residence and his life stories, especially the lion dance performance. Huang Fei-Hong (1856-1925) is one of the legendary martial artists in FoShan, He lived an adventurous life. Yip Man’s elder son - Yip Zhunyi has been always supporting the project. In 2004, Foshan was awarded the title of "the city of martial arts"Īt present, the " Yip Man, Wing Chun" has been Nanhai ,Foshan non-material cultural heritage. The widespread of Choy Li Fut, Hong and Wingchun in the world boxing rooted in Foshan, such as the famous martial arts master Huang Feihong, the master of Wing Chun- Yip Man, the film and television star of martial arts - Bruce Lee and his master both came from Foshan. In the late Qing and the early Republic of China, Foshan martial arts became more colorful and there appeared a lot of famous martial arts masters and organizations of international influence. Since the early Ming Dynasty, Foshan martial arts has been quite popular. Foshan is known as "the hometown of martial arts" and the main source of Chinese southern-style martial arts. Foshan martial arts culture is famous at home and abroad.
